About The Class

INTRODUCTION OF THE CLASS
Online Renju Class was founded in 1999. Being a small community at that time and serving only small group of people, Renjuclass has grown to be the biggest international renju school in the world. There are students from over 20 different countries in our community now. Online Renju Class is a very convenient way to study renju regardless of your location. Students from different countries join the virtual Renju Classroom and learn about renju.As the Internet is growing every day, the Renju Class attracts more and more students.

STUDY DEPARTMENTS AND HEADMASTERS
The teaching structures of Online Renju Class are based on Study Departments. Each department has its name according to the field that it teaches and supports. There is a Headmaster in each department whose duty is to lead the department - schedule lessons, find teachers, manage homework systems, manage students credit points. Currently there is only one department open - Tactics Department (Headmaster: Chen Shoude). Students who have registered to Renjuclass may study in all open departments.
The schedule of lessons and the time are shown in the page of each department. You can get there directly from the main menu.

TUITION
There is no tuition at the moment. Students of the Online Renju Class can study for free. It has been free of charge since 1999 when Renjuclass was founded. However, this condition may change someday in the future.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM
Virtual Classroom is a special software which was designed to support realtime renju lessons online. Students who have possibility to attend realtime renju lessons may download the needed software under Classroom link. The Classroom link is shown in the Main Menu.

OFFLINE STUDENTS
There may be some people who cannot access Virtual Classroom but they can still see the website www.renjuclass.com. Many people cannot join online lessons because the lesson time matches with their working hours.Those people may still become Online Renju Class students. They can download the lesson materials as well as any other materials from this website by using their creditpoints.Offline students can earn creditpoints by sending the homework answers to Renjuclass. The homework questions are published on the page of each Department.

REGISTRATION
A new user can register himself/herself to become a student of Online Renju Class. The registration may be successful only if there are available seats in the class. The seats limit is noted in registration page. Anyone may register to renjuclass if one has a serious interest towards learning renju, regardless of skill, gender, age, religion, race, etc.

STUDENTS DATA DISPLAY SYSTEM
All registered students will be listed in Student List. There will be a number in front of each name in list. When one clicks on the number, the Student Information Page appears. Student can decide which information about him/herself should be available for public or member access, but there is one rule though - every student MUST keep the given names and surname to Public Display Mode at all times. Those who ignore this condition may lose the membership. All the other fields modes are optional.

HOMEWORK
Both online and offline students are expected to do the weekly homework and send the answers Renjuclass.The answer should be composed by using Renlib program, version 3.0 to 3.5.1. You can download it from http://www.renlib.tk or http://www.renju.nu/renlib/ or Renlib mirror page if you fail to open the original site.
Once you completed the homework, you may upload it to the website. The answers should be uploaded before the deadline. The deadline of homeworks is decided by the Headmaster of each Department and you can see the exact information about it in the webpage of the Department. Note that Renjuclass is not responsible for any homework file errors or upload errors. Error files are not compensated. In order to minimize the chance for file errors, please use the official versions of Renlib.

CREDIT POINTS
Credit points are one of the most important issues of Online Renju Class.Student can download lesson files, articles, analyses, renju problems, discussions of the games, etc, by using the credit points.
The amount of credit points reflects the efforts of the student, not the level of renju skill. Students who study well or help with the Online Renju Class will earn more creditpoints than others.On the Student List you can see the students are listed according to their Credit.
The new student will have a negative credit in the beginning (-3). It means that the student has to work hard to get the credit above zero and after that he/she can begin to download files.

The creditpoints can be earned in several ways and in different amounts. Here is the list of most common reasons for receiving creditpoints:

REQUIRED ACTIVITY
Online Renju Class students (both online and offline) are required to be active in order to keep their membership. The activity is counted through the earned credit points. Whenever the student earns a credit point, he has proven his activity. The time between earned credit points is called an "idle time". If the idle time is larger than 30 days at any time, then the student is considered as non-active, and he will lose the membership in Renjuclass. The idleness counter is shown in Student List, behind each name. Whenever the student earns a credit point, the counter will reset to 0.
The students whose idleness counter reaches 30 will automatically be removed from Student List. Those names will be saved in Students Archive. If the deleted student wants to come back to Renjuclass he can restore his student profile under Register link of the website. Restoring a user name requires knowing both user name and password.

DOWNLOAD STUDY MATERIALS
You can enter the download zone by clicking on Study Materials in the Main Menu. All downloadable materials are listed there together with their value. Students who have enough credit may download files or URLs from there.If the student's available credit is smaller than the value of downloadable file, the download attempt fails.
The system keeps track of all downloads. Once the student downloads a file, he/she can have free and unlimited access to that particular file in the future without spending credit.

LIBRARY
Online Renju Class is maintaining its own libary. It includes many Articles and Photos. It is frequently updated and modified. All the contents of Library are free for both Renjuclass members and visitors. According to the copyright regulation, all the documents in the Library as well as in any other part of the Renjuclass website are the property of Online Renju Class. Publishing, distributing, selling, modifying any of Renjuclass website content is the violation of copyright.
You can access the Library directly from the Main Menu.

PLAY GAMES SERVER
Students whose credit is higher than -3cp can play renju games in our wonderful Play Games server. You can get there by clicking on 'Play Games' on the main page.

QUICK MESSAGES
Both students of Renjuclass and visitors may post messages on Quick Messages board anytime. There is no topic set. It is simple and convenient tool. No registration is required for that. You may use any password, but keep in mind that you may need to use that password if you wish to edit or delete your message.

FORUM
Wonderful communication tool, translated and set up by Wenzhe Lu. In order to post messages there or see the users information you have to register yourself into forum database. The topics of discussions are shown in the Forum. It is easy to post messages there and easy to reply to others' postings.

SECOND MENU
There is the second menu of Renjuclass page. All the important links that are not shown under Main Menu are under Second menu.

ARCHIVE
All the historical materials of Renjuclass and the files that are no longer useful today are stored in Renjuclass Archive.

MANAGEMENT OF ONLINE RENJU CLASS
The director of Online Renju Class is Ando Meritee. He is also the founder member of Online Renju Class. The director's position is not permanent. There may be a new director someday in the future. The headmaster of theory and analyses departments is Chen Shoude. The head of software management of Online Renju Class is Lu Wenzhe. The head of hardware management is Lu Farmer. The head of clubs management is Lu Wenzhe.
